Nervous system, stress, and digestion

Why does a meal sit well one day and, on another day when you feel more nervous or stressed, cause pain, bloating, or diarrhoea? You may notice that digestion worsens when you have worries, work pressure, or an event that makes you feel nervous, even though you have not changed what you eat. You may also feel exhausted and constantly rushed, alternating periods of high activity with times when you feel blocked and without energy. This workshop will help you understand how the nervous system influences digestion and why your body can react differently depending on its state.

Is it for you?

This workshop may help if…

  • Some days you digest normally and on others you have pain, bloating, diarrhoea, or constipation while eating practically the same things.
  • You notice that nerves, pressure, or emotional conflict directly affect your gut.
  • You feel tired and tense, alternating between feeling wired and completely exhausted.
  • You have tried to solve your digestion only through food, but still do not understand why symptoms change so much.

Content

What you will understand

Why the nervous system changes how you digest

You will understand why a body that feels threatened prioritises survival over digestion, rest, and repair.

When your body is alert, exhausted, or regulated

You will learn to recognise green, red, and blue states, and why some people alternate between hyperactivation and shutdown.

How stress, the microbiota, and inflammation connect

You will understand how the nervous system can influence intestinal movement, digestive sensitivity, the microbiota, and food tolerance.

The goal is not to feel calm all the time or to assume everything is stress. It is to regain flexibility so your body can activate and then return to regulation.

Who teaches the workshop

An integrative, contextual approach

I am Mahy, the person behind Oryzae. I take an integrative approach to health, bringing together nutrition, digestion, the nervous system, habits, and context.

I created this workshop after seeing many people frustrated because their digestive symptoms change without an apparent explanation and because no one had shown them the relationship between digestion, stress, and the state of the nervous system.
